ESPN reported on Sportscenter that the Iowa State basketball coaches have been asked to clear out their offices and work from home for the time being.
Reportedly the head coach Larry Eustachy who was under fire for partying with co-eds and having pictures of him in compromising position has until today to make an appeal on the University motion to fire him (that was sent to the Chancellor by the AD)

Well, at least they'll be able to fire Larry Eustachy for "Cause" and Iowa won't have to pay off his contract. Eustachy is in deep kimchee.

This guy gets suspended with pay ($1.2 mil) and a woman teacher who wore a cross to school gets suspended for a year without pay. The irony.

Toga party at Eustachy's house!

You wish it was that easy. It's not. His lawyer will have a field day. Other coaches have married coeds. Other coaches have beaten their wives. Other coaches have been convicted of DUI. They didn't get fired. Only reprimanded. Are you telling me what he did is more heineous than DUI or assault? Sorry bub, the media is the only court convicting this guy.

Wasn't he the highest paid state employee in IA ?Yes, but that's irrelevant. I think we've learned Eustachy cares more about himself than the university. If he had any honor, he'd willinging leave.

I agree with you that there will be a settlement in this case. The stories of his past bad behavior are surfacing. Two articles in the Omaha World Herald describe him in unflattering terms. The Mike Price situation is exacerbating the issue as the national press is reporting on both stories with a "coaches gone bad" theme.

I think there are tons of coaches with bad behavior and the schools they are employed by know it. As long as the money keeps coming in, and they keep a reasonable winning record, the coaches have a job. It's when the bad behavior gets out in the press and "embarasses" the school that action is finally taken.

Wasn't he the highest paid state employee in IA ? Possibly. But those who use that "we're paying his salary" line are really not being honest. I'm guessing that many states' highest paid employees are college athletic coaches. Why? Because those coaches run programs that bring in millions of dollars for their schools (and hence, the state). In most cases, the coaches are earning their keep by being instrumental in providing a quality product that earns their employer millions of dollars.
Rest assured your taxes are not affected by how much a college coach makes...

i hope not. i think dana will stay at creighton--i don't think that isu job will be too appealing, as there will be a big mess to clean up after the matter gets resolved.

I agree. It is the old cost-benefit analysis at work. You have to presume that ISU had prior notice of Larry's bad behavior. That information will continue to "dribble" out long after he is gone and the AD will be under scrutiny.

The legal negotiations are ongoing.

Its an interesting footnote, that's all. I realize high priced coaches cover their costs with playoffs & bowl games. If I were bringing in $1 million plus, I take care to avoid teenage parties and certainly wouldn't have my picture taken...

Doesn't Dana have a good team coming back?

Co-eds are usually adults... what is the big deal???
The coach is just is being a guy with a bunch of a few coeds who are maybe just a little on the "tart-side".
This whole episode is silly.
I am a lady, by the way, and I do not see anything wrong with a guy have some fun with some CONSENTING coeds... now, if he was a middle school coach, well, that would be different.
I mean a University coach is NOT a priest, after all... is he?
Hey, and one more thing... it's not like he was "messing" with his team members, if you know what I mean.
