Central Louisiana Voters Approve Multiple Tax Measures

Saturday was a good day for taxes across central Louisiana with voters in seven parishes approving all of the tax measures put before them.

In Alexandria, voters approved an 11.25-mill, 5-year property tax renewal aimed at improving streets and drainage.

Are these all "needed" taxes? Have voters come to accept the "benefits" of taxation? Are the people voting for the taxes not necessarily the ones that are paying them? Did many voters even know taxes were on the Saturday ballots?

From what I've seen, it's #3. We recently voted to swap a small reduction in sales taxes for a large increase in payroll income tax. Even the politicians said it would never fly. Guess what? It passed! My income tax went up & millions who pay no income tax, got a sales tax decrease.
