Yeah, but the League of the South isn't just dedicated to the memory of the Old south, it's neo-secessionist as well.
That matter was decided by the Civil War and any attempt to break up the present-day U.S. along the old free/slave-state fauilt lines is at the very least goofy and seditious.
The secession issue itself was resolved in 1861-1865 by force of arms but, so long as there is a Tenth Amendment and so long as it is not amended, the truth is that nothing legally prevents secession of any state for good reasons or for ill. Internal assent to a principle of non-secession enforceable only at gunpoint and nowhere present in our nations duly enacted laws resolves nothing on the intellectual plane of intellect ormoral principle.
Also, don't forget that Fleming comes from the land north of the cheddar curtain, Wisconsin, which, in an abolitionist snit, was the first state to enact articles of secession, although James Buchanan, followed by Abe Lincoln and their successors were kind enough to ignore Wisconsin's eccentric behavior.
I don't think secession is now a very good idea for any reason. If I did, I would favor flyover country seceding, establishing an abortion-proof constitution, and conquering a coastal state on each coast to give access to the oceans, expelling the current residents who want to remain with the coastal states. When the Demonrat-ridden coastal regions collapse from left social and economic policies, we may be willing to take them back, but only if they constitutionally promise to be very, very good.
