I do not agree with PJB's border mania nor that there is any actual likelihood of a reconquista of the southwest. The prevention of such a reconquista is one, but only one, of the reasons why God invented the US Army, Navy, Air Force, and, of course, the Marine Corps. Mamacita bringing her kids across the border to improve their standard of living is not a threat to our country. She is more likely our social issue reinforcement than an enemy of America.
If Americans are upset with Mexicans and Central Americans moving here legally or otherwise, they need to consider a few things. First, there are warehouses in Kansas and probably elsewhere storing hundreds of thousands of INS applications that were never even reviewed much less replied to. Many tried the "legal" route and were ignored by the usual gang of inefficient bureacratic stooges at INS. People have one life tro live and their kids only grow up once. The culture of INS ten spreads to the Mexicans. The law does not tell the INS to store and ignore applications. The Mexicans have figured out how to be legalized. Periodic amnesties. Don't blame the Mexicans or other Latin Americans.
I moved to Illinois from Connecticut because I was convinced that Illinois was now better than Connecticut as a place to raise my kids. One example is that ninenot and his family are within driving distance. The Mexicans move here for the same reason that their kids will have better lives as a result.
Americans, not thee and me, but you know the ones, are birth-controlling and aborting themselves into oblivion. PJB also complains about this in his latest book and points out that this opens the doors to those who would not normally be admitted since we also need fresh workers to pay the social insurance taxes we will depend upon in our old age.
Unlike many here, I agree with Pat on the rest of the issues you cite and I voted for him in 1992 and 1996.
Finally as to PJB he is not a product of the conservative movement. He lateralled in through the bright but none too ideologically reliable Richard Nixon. The lack of movement connection often tells.
The issues in your last paragraphdo remain issues. I never thought I would see the end of the Iron Curtain in my lifetime or genuine welfare reform, but I have. All in good time, all in good time. What we really don't need is a Demonratic President, much less Hillary.
