"How can an evangelical Christian, saved by faith alone, be in unity with a Roman Catholic who believes in salvation by good works?"

That is not what we believe. Faith alone is the way to salvation. Good works is a by product of that faith.

This is a common misconception of other christians.

"In addition, you can read online a comparison of the current catechism with the Bible, showing how it teaches a false gospel, written by Rick Jones ..."

I wonder if you have a copy of the Roman Catholic catechism, or just what James' interpretation of it is?

You know what I find interesting? From many of the Catholics that I see posting here, they keep telling me that they don't believe in salvation by works, yet I personally don't know a Catholic that will tell me that. I am married to a former Catholic. Her entire family throughout all it's branches (mom, dad, brother, aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, etc) believe in the idea of works bringing salvation. For many years (before my wife left the Catholic Church) I attended Mass with my wife, going to a total of 3 seperate Catholic Churches. It definately appeared that they were teaching a "salvation by works" message.

Many Catholics here tell me I am wrong with my understanding of the Catholic Faith, yet my understanding comes from exposure to a family of Catholics, years of attending the Catholic Church, and from reading the Catachism?

How is it I can personally know so many Catholics who are wrong? Or is it that most Catholics do buy into the salvation by works, and that there are a few who have actually read their Bible and understand that salvation is not by works, but by grace?
