Subjugation of black people has ALWAYS been Democrat policy -- with slavery, the Confederacy, Jim Crow, and now.I was puzzled why 80 - 90 % African Americans always vote Democrat.

Could this be the "Stockholm syndrome"? Thats what I call it.
The one principle that has been a constant among Repubs is color-blind citizenship. To be a Repub in the old Jim Crow south was to be a very lonely man. We held to this principle all during the bad old days, and now that those days are done, thank God, we continue to hold to the same principle. Repubs are unpopular with racialists of the left and the right both. So it is a sad irony that Black voters by and large pull the voting levers for the party of their oppressors.
The race-obsessed, by and large, left and right, generally find their home in the Democratic party. Repubs as a rule are uninterested in race as an issue, don't define themselves by race, and most especially don't define others by race. People that are more interested in ideas than ethnicity will eventually find their way to the Repub party. We don't get all of them, but we get the good ones.
