George W Bush might have been embarrassed (and the pilot) if they missed the first landing, but George W Bush would have liked to have gotten a second try.
The Viking did look like it was high coming in, but it was hard to tell with the telephoto camera's if that was out of proportion.
I guess the propellor driven aircraft based on the carrier (E2C Hawkeye) must be the easiest to land.
My cousin is married to a former REO on a F-14 Tomcat. On one takeoff, the pilot forgot to put down the flaps, and they went down before they went up after launch. Supposedly my cousin's husband was mad at the pilot for forgetting and it was an apparently a "close one".

Nice summary. I enjoy the experienced comments on this website. It is just the opposite of the journalism I am forced to read.
Did I mention I earned 3 Medals of Honor on the same guy in the video game Gunship? Young kids are very impressed with that statistic.
Seriously, I admire the pilot who landed the President. We all have to admit it took guts for Bush to land on the carrier that way instead of on a wussy chopper.

When were you at Chanute? Wait - they were landing airplanes there - must have been ages ago.
I was there in 1984.

Quite a bit different from an El Camino with a carpet in the back, huh?I believe it was Astro Turf. Makes sense, carpet stains too easily.

I'm sure the liberals are outraged that an actual man is in the White House.
They prefer a spineless husk of a man, you know.

I was there at the Jet Engine School. Chipped paint off that 52 at the front of the flightline - Cerebus, I think it was named.

Is this guy some kind of wonderful, or what.
Out there, talking to the service men and women, on their level. You can feel the backwash of waves of loyalty just POUR out of that crowd.
Let us make sure the military vote is NEVER again vacated, or thrown out, or disallowed. These people, more than any, have earned the right to, and deserve to, have their voice heard in elections.
