I doubt God registers Republican, but the use of the word "Right" is an interesting symbolism. In addition to fishing to the RIGHT of the boat, Jesus also sits to the "RIGHT" of God.

A significant symbolic parallel: God commands Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham proves his loyalty and Isaac is spared. God shows He is willing to go as far as man plus a step further by sacrificing His son for the descendents of Abraham. A cosmic poker game?
