Je$$ie HyJack$on will probably grow an ulcer if he sees this picture. President Bush will destroy the rat's race cards by the time his second term is over.

Landing (as a passenger) at SAN was always exciting, but especially way back when the Convair 990's did not have thrust reversers. Many times we would barely make the turn around at the extreme end of the runway right next to NTC & MCRD.!

Anyone had a steerburger at Boll Weevil lately? I think that's what I miss most about San Diego.

If this was W's first trap on a carrier, I imagine he just felt some additional respect for his Dad for doing the same 50 years ago.

My oldest son just got his MD11 ticket - I'm kinda proud.

Wow!

National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) smiles as she waits for President George W. Bush (news - web sites) to land on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln as the ship steamed toward San Diego, CA, May 1, 2003.

Did I see a small Air Force insignia on the fuselage of Navy One below the portside cockpit?

No, the star-and-bar is on all United States military aircraft. It's called a roundel. In the photo below, look just below the cockpit under the wing root extension, just forward of the nose gear.

Other nations have other similar markings...

On this RAF Nimrod, the roundels are on the underside of the wing near the wingtip, and on the aft fuselage between the wing and the empennage.

It may very well be the best day he's had since 9/11.

That's not a carrier! That is an elongated tug boat!

It's a Navy Cross which hasn't happened yet...

I did and was yelling so loud the dogs thought I had a rabbit cornered!
