A point of clarification...the article referenced did NOT list her rank. When I enlisted in the Air Force in 1981--with 120+ hours toward my bachelor's degree--I became an E-3 (Airman First Class) after completing basic. I would assume that Ms. Freeland must also have a higher rank than E-1, but (again) the writer didn't specify her rank. She might also be a specialist, since the Army still has than classification within its enlisted ranks...

Hey dipsh*t! They called her "ARMY PRIVATE" I expect that you would have missed this, being that most folks in the AF refer to each other by thier first names and not rank. Or if thats not the case EVERY one is a Sergeant! The Gunny

"She might also be a specialist," NOPE. An Army Private is from E-1 thru E3, then you are either E-4 or Spec 4 depending on your MOS.
