Speaking of ebay, I bid and won the following last Saturday. Nowhere but eBay can you find such excellent merch.

After many faithful years of service, it is time to retire the venerable bogomatic.fredbox.com. bogomatic has quite a history among the Anchorage, Alaska geek set, being primarily responsible for emitting the proper amount of bogon flux into the local network. Alas, it is time to move on, and send bogomatic off into the sunset of other venerable servers, such as ucbvax.

What this auction entails, then, is for you to log into a shell on bogomatic, I will allow you to su to root, at which time you will, in a solemn but yet meaningful ceremony, officially decommission the server by rm'ing everything, halting, having a moment of silence, all the appropriate things. This decommissioning to occur the evening of the 26th of April (this saturday, Alaska time. It could be the early morning of Sunday depending on where you are.)

The console will view your session, that we all may share in this historic moment.

Proceeds from this Auction to help offset my moving expenses. That's sort of a charity. Certainly I'm non-profit, if not registered that way.

I'm amazed that I don't see Ted Nugent listed as an inspiration/role model.

I've just sent him this via email:

Dear Sir,

The ad you wrote for the speaker system you are selling was posted on a forum that I am a member of.
It was greatly enjoyed by many on the forum.
But greater than that, many there were impressed with your profile and personal description of yourself.

As a member of this forum in good standing for many years, I would like to extend an invitation to you to come and join in this forum.
It is described as an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web.

We represent the core constituency of this great nation and the its future as well.

Please consider this invitation seriously. I believe you will find many like-minded people there along with thousands of veterans who have also served. I also believe you will find it a valuable tool as you make your way in the world serving our great nation in your chosen military career.
