(KCNA in Pyongyang, Yonhapnews) Kim Kwi-Geun:

According to the announcement on April 30, 2003, by N. Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman, the current situation compels N. Korea into the decision to have 'physical deterrance' and take it into action. It said that, if America takes up (N. Korean) nuclear issue to U.N., it will take an extraordinary step.

In light of recent events, this might be more than just another bluster. Because N. Korea is in the last leg of their trick. They desperately want America to cave in. But if America does not, they might go ahead with their final plan. The show time may be around the corner. Would we see a nuke-bomb test ? Let us hope not.

If Kim wants to see a really extraordinary step, he can watch us drop kick his stupid, poofy haired, going-to-hell A%@ right into orbit. He's been disconnected from reality for a long time, but we'll put him on the deluxe JDAM reconnect plan the minute he stops talking and puts a shot across our bow.

We may need to Smart Bomb their nuke test. I hope we don't use nukes to teach a lesson. Our air supremacy should speak for itself if this comes to blows.

Don't the DPRK nuke capable missiles have to roll out of their caves and be erected, then filled with liquid fuel before firing, taking about a half hour?

You can bet we are watching closely, and will be ready if and when they do a more than one rocket "test".

Also, their missiles cannot roll out of their caves if their mouths are sealed first with bunker busters dropped from B2s.

The DPRK has a variety of missile launch sites, from mobile TELs for SRBMs, to regular fixed site silos, to camoflaged civilian looking sites that are actually launch facilities. Their Taepo'dong 2 ICMB sites are easier to monitor than the No Dong or Scud-Cs, so we'd be much more able to catch a long range launch.

Anything from a IRBM or shorter, and we'd have little to no warning. Also, their deception techniques are excellent. Even if we knew where we thought their nuclear weapons were, if they decided to move them, they'd make damn sure that enough parts got moving to make it anyones guess as to where it went.

Re #4

But their nuke is probably too big to be fit into their missiles. So American territory is safe and even Japan may be safe from N. Korean nuke. S. Korea is not definitely safe, though.

Seems to me that NK would be right in their game, if the US brought this matter before the UN -- although why the heck Bush would do that, post lesson of Iraq fiasco, is beyond me!

I worry about the mental ability of the N Korean leader to see that his blackmail is a dangerous game. The South Koreans are not safe. They will be the first to suffer.China needs to get their friend to face up to reality.China gains nothing if N korea has nukes.Tweaking the US is fun,but enough is enough.

Have you noticed that all the despots..including this midget Chia...run to the UN for sanctuary? Something very wrong about that.

Even if their nukes are clunkers in the two-ton class, a Scud A could deliver one on a reduced-range, flat trajectory pretty quickly, if they could get it erect w/o folding up under the weight of the warhead....Japan wouldn't be safe. Seoul would be duck soup for a Frog barrage.

Kim could pretty much make Seoul go away if he's got as many as three weapons of moderate yield. The ensuing fire storms would take care of anything that didn't get knocked over.

I don't know, this has "Oh please, do take it to the U.N. and let's all run around in circles paying months of high-quality attention to Il-vis" written all over it.

If we were going to do something now, I don't think the U.N. would be our first thought. After all, the French, Russians, and Chinese would just weasle us out through a veto.

I'm thinking it's a crude form of reverse-psychology.

Communsit North Korea could just set off a nuke under the Sea of Japan and a tidal wave would greatly harm Japan.
Very little needed for a delivery vehicle, say a fairly small fishing vehicle in international waters.

RE #14

The only attention N. Korea is after is American's. Besides, N. Korea could fear that U.N. deal will come out against herself even if it may not have enough teeth to be effective.

Re #15

If N. Korea goes suicidal, she can do that. I say "suicidal" because the tidal wave will hit N. Korean shore, too. On the other hand, any such ship could be easily tracked and boarded. So this could be a plan with high probability of failure.

Somehow this fails to reassure me. Maybe something about all those container ships docking in Long Beach...
