this country has always been a magnet for immigrants. the issue of legality didn't arise until the racial complexion of the country began to darken.

the issue of illegal immigration will be solved about 18-20 years after americans start having more children.

illegals weren't tolerated until the feminists decided not to have children and the american birthrate dropped below replacement in the late 70's. it was then in the 80's that illegals showed up in droves, and the government did nothing. communist insurgencies in latin american countries also provided an incentive to leave the homelands.

why did neither dem nor pub parties react? because there was a vacuum at the entry jobs level; illegals filled this need. american children did not want to hoe beets and beans, flip burgers, clean motel rooms, do landscaping, etc. james flanigan of the los angeles times last sunday had an interesting article in the business section, stating that the policy makers of california (democrats) who don't understand economics, want to eliminate the garment jobs in los angeles. but, as he points out, these are excellent entry level jobs for immigrants, paying about $100.00 per day.

immigration is healthy. look at europe and japan and their declining populations. fearful of the expanding birth rates of their moslem populations, europeans restrict legal immigration. and yet, they refuse to have more children themselves. the result will be imploding cultures.

america is doing what america does best.

Gee that's funny, where I live there's not too many illegals and Americans are flipping burgers, cleaning motel rooms, landscaping, even working the orchard fields. But then I must be seeing things ha, only illegals want to do that.

I agree with most of which you said. But I do think that most people have at least a tiny bit of racism in them, including myself. And while racism may be coloring/distorting people's thinking on the immigration issue, it should be pointed out. that however racist conservatives are, the liberals are much more so with their PC policies, Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton kowtowing, etc.

All I can say about your entire post is you don't know what is happening. You see what you read and you are mouthing the words of (a) Democratic Party (b) Republican Party (c)corporations that are getting cheap labor because it is being subsidized by taking it from working taxpayers.

I don't think anyone hoes beets anymore, do they? Don't we have machinery for that - we did about 50 years ago anyway. Silly? Not nearly as silly as y our post. Someone was doing the work when these people came - I saw it. The chickens were getting plucked the cows were being milked, the rooms were being cleaned - but gosh, they had to actually pay those people, collect-remit-and match taxes - voila! let's buy some politicians and they will import us some cheap labor and let the taxpayers worry about the rest of it. That is the long and short of it.

I saw the transformation - I say the people in chicken plants put out of work, I saw the dairy workers put out of a job, I saw the seamstresses put out of a job - so sell that to someone else - not me.

Another thing - if not for the cheap labor that does allow a lot of work, farming especially to lag behind in technology - we would have more machinery developed to do the work - but why develop it when the government will import you workers, the taxpayers will subsidize them. This is also one of the dark sides of the illegal immigration story - it keeps a country from progressing technologically.

No, it was not lack of workers - it was greed - pure and simple greed.

Would you quit your current job to work at minimum or sub-minimum wages? Most Americans couldn't afford to. By the way, race mongering doesn't reflect well on you.

If having children is the factor in economic success ---then how do you possibly explain Communist China's huge economic success with it's forced abortions and one-child policies (and little immigration)???? You do realize that China is now in the top three economies ---along with Japan and the US and is actually gaining while the US is falling.

How can millions of kids who lack education and basic skills and lack health insurance so free medical care and education must be provided by the US taxpayers be really so great for our economy? You may not have heard ----but actually our economy isn't doing so well lately ---and California and Texas with their very high numbers of illegals and other immigrants are facing impossible state budget deficits. If immigrants were so helpful there should obviously be surpluses ----and you know there are not!
