[history]
Washington, April 29 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. extended a national security review of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd.'s plan to take control of Global Crossing Ltd., threatening to scuttle the $250 million transaction, said people familiar with the matter.
A government panel told the companies it would take another 45 days to determine whether China would exert undue influence over Hong Kong-based Hutchison's ownership of a fiber-optic network. The panel will submit a recommendation to President George W. Bush, who will have 15 days to make a decision.

"The Red Billionaire" strikes again.. Li Ka-shing
Shortly after the company took over in the Bahamas..that country withdrew its acceptance of Free China and recognized communist china
Li was instrumental in the smooth take over of Hong Kong as Li himself said ..."I am Chinese..China is my motherland...Li was the vital go between...between the geriatric bosses of Beijing and Hong Kongs leading merchants
In 1979 Li became a member of CITIC the bank of The People's Liberation Army-providing funding for weapons sales and technology purchases from western sources through a variety of fronts
If Li were not in the hip pockets of the Red Chinese would he be running their commerical ports?Would he be running most of south China's sea born trade
Li converted to the red's camp in the late 80s
It is widely believed he has been given the Panama Canal to be in a position to shut it down or destroy it..in the event US warships need it...
"China's Red Billionaire" gatekeeper to the Panama Canal...Testimony before The Armed Services Committee United States Senate- from an exerpt from the Armed Services Committee Record
