I'm happy to know there are some conservative teachers...but to be honest- the majority of teachers are liberal. In the last twenty years, teachers have become an arm of liberal ideals and have disappointed many of us with their anti-Bush and anti-American positions. I used to have great respect for the teaching profession but in all honesty, I don't admire the majority of teachers. Our local schools had to deal with the anti-war position of 90% of teachers, the never ending whine for more money, etc.etc. I do applaud you for you give me hope...but I imagine you are a rare gem. It's not your fault we've lost respect for the teaching profession- those of us who watch closely have just grown disgusted. Good luck to you...I hope you stay the course.

[paragraphs are our friends)Yep! Periods can be painful, commas usually slow us down, my semi-colon is giving me fits, but question marks always make me wonder......

The week after the last scheduled week of the school year should be reserved for make-up days, or perhaps some Saturdays would do. It can't be that hard to figure out without scrapping important commemorative days.

Maybe the union will give back one of those days the teachers get off on Fridays for "in service".

I thought this was a Federal-National holiday? Well, to solve this dilemma, keep all of the kids home... nothing they can do about it. Here, they change schedules like they change their socks, but we just continue to do what is right and just. I did get a threatening letter about an "unexcused" absence, because I refused to lie, and was even told to say "out sick"... screw them. Stay home and remember our men and women in the armed services!

Memorial Day is an important reminder of all those who died in the service of their country.
The left would have us believe the day remembers all dead.
We do not "celebrate" on Memorial Day, we mourn.
Veterans' Day honors all those who served and are serving in the armed forces.

They have taken the Memorial Day holiday from the public schools here in Wake County NC too. I live in Raleigh and I have one child in public school now and he will be going on that day.
I will however make sure he knows what the day signifies. Ours was d/t multiple ice storm make-up days.
