The proper, responsible way to handle a milk allergy is to not drink milk. If the ADD philosophy were applied to such a person, they would be force-fed milk, then force-fed allergy symptom treatments.
I'm reminded of the old joke, where the guy goes to his doctor and says, "Doc, it hurts when I do this." To which the doctor replies, "Well, don't do this!"
The burden of proof belongs on the people who are giving mind-altering drugs to children. It's not a proven case - there's not even a plausible case that can withstand the most basic common-sense scrutiny.
It's a scam and a crime and the people responsible for it should be condemned by society and the law.
Perhaps the "proper" way to treat ADD is to take kids out of school at age 7-8 and put them to work 12 hours a day on farms and in factories. Trouble is, this just doesn't work in a modern economy, and we're just not prepared as a society to go back to the days of no cars, no computers, no sophisticated medical diagnostics, etc. Hopefully, a non-drug solution can be found, but in the meantime drugs may be the best answer for a lot of children and adults.
