Ah, you're quite correct. It was made-for-television and spun off the "Salvage" TV series. And you're right, it was okay as such movies go. I really loved the spacecraft built from the drum of a concrete mixer truck!

Neat premise, but the show didn't last very long IIRC. I guess it struck a chord with a kid who regularly converted an old gym locker into a race car/spaceship/submarine in the back yard.
