CA: Jackson urges tech companies to pay janitors' health insurance

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Wearing purple T-shirts emblazoned with a squeegee-bearing fist, about two dozen janitors gathered Monday to cheer the Rev. Jesse Jackson and to urge Silicon Valley companies to maintain their health care benefits.

Jackson, who was in San Jose hosting a two-day trade fair designed to promote ethnic diversity in the technology industry, attended a rally the janitor's union organized outside the headquarters of software maker Adobe Systems Inc.

Jackson limits his appearence fee to $5k for these "poor" unions. He recently appeared in Fresno and his fee exceeded the gains during contract negotiations that he flew in to support.

Jackson is a master at ripping off both sides of the issue in the name of diversity.

Jesse yells and the response will be to terminate the janitors and outsource the cleaners' tasks to a separate company. Tech companies are bleeding cash and can't afford to raise anyone's pay at this time.
