Will breaking wind in one of these protected zones be a misdemeanor or felony?

You hit the button on the head, whether you meant to or not.

My sinuses and throat close up when I am around strong perfume/after shave/cologne as well as cigarette smoke, but I don't go around trying to force the government to ban those things, do I? I choose to avoid the perfume section of department stores and stay away from heavy concentrations of smokers - that's my choice to make.

Most if not all libraries already don't allow smoking in the building. What's next, bar people with BO? I swear that if anything offends my sinuses more than strong perfume, it's bad BO. I don't see any provision in that law barring people with bad Body Odor. As you mentioned - what about passing gas. That is very offensive to many people.

Of course, the way I look at it - if someone feels the need to dump half a bottle of the strongest smelling perfume on themselves to go out in public, they must have other issues to take care of.

It would be priceless to get in with a press pass, after an
evening of dining on boiled cabbage, beans and lots of beer.

Man, Iwould attend after not showering for 3 days, eating a bean and garlic feast, and stuffing horse manure in my pockets. Then insist on being seated in the "fragrance free" zone. After all it will be all natural....

Excellent point. Shouldn't there be a fourth section at the meeting for those who want to be able to pass gas? Or should that be six sections. How about those that didn't use deodorant or cologne and didn't bathe several days before? Shouldn't there possibly be nine or twelve or fifteen sections. Man, being a left wing scent nazi is a hard job!!!

There is a good reference for information related to Multiple Chemical Sensitivities Syndrome at NRJAC Resolution on Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. To summarize: MCSS is a scam.

In my opinion, the issue at hand is that so-called MCSS sufferers have been able to get disability benefits for MCSS (see Applying for Social Security Disability Benefits) and now they're flexing their "disablity-muscles".

What MCSS sufferers are really suffering from are:

  1. Psychoses - i.e. They believe that a whiff of perfume is going to cause some great physical harm.
  2. Neuroses - i.e. They are fixated on their beliefs such as item 1.
  3. Self absorbtion - i.e. They don't consider that most people enjoy perfume and most people are not happy to accommodate someone else's ridiculous demands.
  4. Passive agression - i.e. This may be the Sine Qua Non of MCSS and its ilk. It may be that MCSS is really just a vehicle for demanding that other people accommodate one's demands due to one's "having a disability." In other words: "don't consider" in item 3 should be changed to "do consider".
