Just punish these this rather intolerant and strident species of social conservative in the primary, and if one actually wins the primary (a very rare event), and the one is too offensive, just vote for the Dem in the general. The Democrats are so out of it right now that I almost always will vote for a right-wing, anti-Gay Republican before I will vote for a Democrat. Now if there is a Libertarian running and it's a local or state election.....
