Moon Griffon (pronouned GRIF FONN) just disclosed on his statewide radio hookup that Louisiana Governor Murphy J. "Mike" Foster and Secretary of State Fox McKeithen contributed, both elected Republicans, contributed to the 40th birthday celebration for State Senator Cleo Fields, a black Democrat who has run for Congress and governor. The celebration was held in November 2002, at the height of the Landrieu-Terrell U.S. Senate general election, in which Foster had been slow and seemingly hesitant to endorse Republican nominee Terrell.
Foster gave $1,250 to the birthday bash of his former gubernatorial rival. McKeithen gave twice as much: $2,500.
Griffon said he is outraged that the "head of the Republican Party" in Louisiana -- the governor -- gave badly needed funds so that a Democrat could have a birthday celebration.

Is the LA GOP about to self-destruct? There are seven Republicans running in a primary on October 4for a nebulous general election slot.

Not exactly a surprising revelation given Foster's performance last Fall.

On the other hand, Cleo Fields was slow to support Mary Landrieu, and maintaining chummy relations with him could theoretically blunt his edge.
I don't know what the deal is, but you can be sure McKeithen and Foster don't support Cleo politically! I'd guess it's some sort of bizarre insider backslapping from political rivals.

So how much, Johnny, do you think Cleo will contribute to the next birthdays of Foster and McKeithen?
To: Theodore R.
I'm sure Cleo will contribute a lot of money.
I'm just not sure it will actually be "his" . . .

Yea, I just recalled that Joe Kennedy in 1950 donated to the senatorial campaign of Rep. Richard Nixon, R-CA. Politics does make strange bedfellows though its hard to imagine St. Hillary contributing to a G.W. Bush birthday bash. G.W. would probably contribute to a Hillary birthday, but not vice versa.

Foster is simply not a Republican or
a conservative he is a criminal.
