Al Franken has tried to be a stand-up comedian, serious news commentator, and political satirist at various times in his "career". He's been a failure at all of them but the liberal media continues to carry him because they're stupid enough to think that somebody finds him funny. Al Franken is a total wanker.

THEIR Beverage = Champagne

In the USA, I'm told that ONLY French sparkling wine can be marketed as "Champagne," since it comes from that region in France.

Any sparkling wine produced in other regions of the world (such as California), CANNOT be sold here as "Champagne."

Those other sparkling wines are advertised and sold here as "sparkling wine."


NOW:


What if our government STOPS this unfair practice, rewrites its own law, and ALLOWS anybody meeting certain quality standards to market their sparkling wine as "Champagne?"

After all, that's exactly WHAT IT IS. "Champagne" has become the common term + catchall name for that category of beverage. But American companies have simply been prevented from calling their stuff Champagne for Lord knows how many years.

"Champagne" has become the common term for this sort of beverage, so why can't we Americans buy/sell OUR STUFF under that name? Why do the French get to sell us their Champagne, but we must sell our competing brands as dippy-sounding "sparkling wine?"


WHO enforces this USA "law," and HOW CAN WE CHANGE IT ??

Actually Al Franken is now hosting the EIL (Excellence In Liberalism) Network the third Wednesday of each month FR Comedy Radio. His next show is scheduled for May 21 at 9:00 PM EDT. I have a feeling that Franken will talk about this incident.

Oh man how I hope that thing never comes to fruition--not because I'm worried about the drivel that will follow, but because we'll probably never be released from it because we know as good liberals they will be seeking some kind of government support when their "big network" doesn't float in the marketplace. It will be PBS II.
