Someone at the Freeper Ralley in Fort Collins, CO asked what the hell dose Women in Black mean: especiall if there is a guy holding the banner: Which made no sence to me. Here is what there web site states:

Our Mission Women In Black New York stand in silent vigil to protest war, rape as a tool of war, ethnic cleansing and human rights abuses all over the world. We are silent because mere words cannot express the tragedy that wars and hatred bring. We refuse to add to the cacophony of empty statements that are spoken with the best intentions yet may be erased or go unheard under the sound of a passing ambulance or a bomb exploding nearby.

Our silence is visible. We invite women to stand with us, reflect about themselves and women who have been raped, tortured or killed in concentration camps, women who have disappeared, whose loved ones have disappeared or have been killed, whose homes have been demolished. We wear black as a symbol of sorrow for all victims of war, for the destruction of people, nature and the fabric of life.

Women in Black is an international peace network. Women in Black is not an organization, but a means of mobilization and a formula for action. Women in Black vigils were started in Israel in 1988 by women protesting against Israel’s Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. Women in Black has developed in countries such as Italy, Spain, Germany, England, Azerbaijan, Colombia, and in FR Yugoslavia, where women in Belgrade have stood in weekly vigils since 1991 to protest war and the Serbian regime’s policies of nationalist aggression. Women in Black groups have formed in many cities in the United States since September 11th. Women in Black New York have been holding vigils in solidarity with our sisters throughout the world since 1993.

I live within the confines of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, VA, Walter Sullivan Bishop. Need I say more??? OK, I will. He is the Bishop President of Pax Christi USA which has aligned itself with ANSWER and other leftwing "peace" organisations. He promotes a Pledge of Resistance to the War, the wearing of black ribbons, nonviolent civil disobedience and, oh yes, he supports the troops and their families (how is not clear to me at this time).

When freeping a "peace" march, I have had a priest, wearing a black ribbon with an American flag pin, give a rather dramatic thumbs down to my signs that said, "God bless our sons, our daughters, our TROOPS, and our president George W. Bush", "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing", and "St. Michael the Archangel defend them in battle".

The last time my 19 yr. old Marine was home (he is stationed in Georgia), we had a visiting priest empty a few pews at the 8:30 am Mass by allowing a "peace" activist to speak. My son, husband and I went to the 11:00 am Mass and Father did the dirty work himself, denigrating my son's Commander in Chief and preaching how unjust the War in Iraq would be.

I was ready to walk out but waited to see what my son would do. He carried the Offertory gifts up to the altar with his head high and shoulders back. When he reached the altar steps he gave a deep, reverent bow to the Tabernacle (something I hadn't seen the Priest do). I was so touched, my anger melted away at that moment and I thanked God for giving me such a decent, honest and noble son, for giving all of us this generation of selfless young men and women. They may be young, but they know more about truth, good and evil, faith and charity than a cathedral full of theologians.
