The best confirmation we've had yet that Saddam is gone.
Regards, Ivan

I don't know. If Aziz says Saddam is dead, I'm almost inclined to think he's alive.

I'm not sure Aziz is in any position to be caught in a lie, do you?

I'll not believe it until I see a photo of Baghdad Bob tasting crumpets with Saddam.

I'm not sure Aziz is in any position to be caught in a lie, do you? He sure as heck is not going to lie. He is trying to avoid a military tribunal giving him the firing squad death penalty. He can only avoid that by being completely truthful with our investigators. He knows for certain that if he refuses to talk or is caught in a lie, he will die at the hands of a US firing squad. I am sure he has been told that only if he offers complete and total cooperation, will he be given a short sentence and be allowed to live. I am sure he has been told that if others give us information that we find out he knew and withheld he will die.
Remember with us in complete control of Iraq there is no cause to die for. Saddams men can only die. They can't die for Saddams cause, because it is no more. Only a complete idiot would lie. Asiz is not an idiot.
I recall that back in the Bush I administration, he met with James Baker in Europe. Baker game him a letter addressed to Saddam. Aziz refused to give the letter to Saddam. He told Baker that Saddam would have him killed if he gave him the letter from Bush Sr.
He is not saying Saddam is dead. He is saying he never saw him or heard from him after the first night of the war. The Iraqis fought this war like no one was in charge. We may very well confirm that no one was in charge.

This bastard likely has information on Michael Scott Speicher. Drug him.

It would be very interesting at this point to find out that Saddam was indeed killed on the opening evening of the war. It would also go far in explaining the uncoordinated and seemingly headless gropings of a decapitated and leaderless regime, which followed. Now, what of the sons? Perhaps it was they (or one of them) who was maintaining the semblance of control after the first strike...

We can't kill Saddam often enough to suit me. If he's dead, the sport is over.
Am I awful to feel that way? I'd like to see his twitching, mewling, bleeding body being dragged by angry crowds through the streets of Baghdad. I'd like to see kids beating him with their shoes. I figure there are some Iraqis who wouldn't mind that either.
I believe that he had a lot to do with 9/11, and I'll believe that till its proved otherwise, which I don't think it will be. So he provokes some very unholy feelings of vengeance in me...sorry about that.
Of course, being the good guys, our side would have to take him away from the mob and save his life.
Ugh, on second thought, I guess it's as well he seems to be DEAD ALREADY!

He knows for certain that if he refuses to talk or is caught in a lie, he will die at the hands of a US firing squad.I would like this to happen. (Unless it is true that Aziz has been a coalition informer -- then he deserves an easier ride.)
But what makes you think any captured Saddam-ite bigwig will face a "US firing squad"? I think the best we can hope for is a US military tribunal, followed by prison -- the Brits won't stand for execution.
Less likely, fortunately, would be some silly "international tribunal" such as the Hague. Bush won't stand for that.

I agree with MadIvan. Aziz can say he didn't see sadam, but big deal. That in and of itself doesn't have to mean too much. For example, perhaps, sadam is keeping a low profile because he wants people to think he is deceased (would be a smart move). Perhaps aziz spoke to sadam via messengers or another communication means and so is not lying when he says he hasn't "seen" (face to face) sadfam since the start of the war. Of course, sadam could indeed be dead also.

Sorry... can't believe it until Petronski posts "He's dead, Jim." with Deforest Kelley pic.

Oops, I meant to write that I agree with you about the potential veracity of Aziz.

Lies, lies once again! As Allah is my witness, Saddam is very much alive! I know this for a fact, as just last week I was at a prayer breakfast with he and Ferdinand Marcos. Don't toy with me, infidel dogs!

Now! Now! I saw Teraq Aziz on TV with Saddam and his cronies just before the war ended.....
