Well, let me give you a little motherly, music teacher advice.
Try to broaden your musical interests to include Classical music and Jazz. You'll be a better person for it......and smarter too.
btw, our youngest daughter is 16, and she listens to Jazz frequently......especially Cool Jazz.

Im 17, I like jazz, like blues more though, but my preferences are all across the board, mainly Im into bluegrass, folk music, Elvis Costello type stuff (cant really give it a genre), oretty much anything but rap

It helps if you have to play the stuff. I played from 3rd grade through high school, and all we did was classical and jazz, so it kind of grows on you after a while.

If you delve into opera, Bushie, try a Renee Fleming. She has a beautiful voice.
Ohio, have you every listened to any of Fleming's stuff? She was at a Kennedy Center Honors about two years ago, and the one yr anniv that Mrs. Bush organized. I love her voice. It's just so amazing. HEr and Placido Domingo.
