And in that, you are right, but as a Secretary on the Army, he just didn't do us any good. The Air Force, and even the Navy poked us at every turn in the money battles. He 'went to war' over the wrong things.
Rummy 'firing' him is like the Ref stopping a fight... Do you want what is best for the Green Machine, or what is best for White (no offense, that's just my point...)
I have a " lack of current events " ? I suppose you meant to add " knowledge " in there, someplace, dear, and no, I am rather up to date on current events; always have been. Unlike you, I know that it would have been wrong, not to mention politically stupid, for Rummy to have someone else " talk for him ".
How about Colin Powell ? Do you not think, then, that he was on T.V. far too much ? Isn't he STILL, on T.V. too much and why didn't he have someone else " talk for him " ?
Only the president has a PRESS SECRETARY. PR guys & gals do NOT " talk for " any of the Cabinet.
Maybe you also think that there shouldn't have been daily press briefings done by the military. How about a PR person for that too ?
You " GET REAL ! Just come right out and say that you personally can't stand Rummy and think he hasn't done a good job . All of this beating around the bush is so ... disengeniously LIBERAL, dear. :-)
I now consider missile technology to be superior to the artillery concept, if properly implemented.
That would be a pretty good bet .. plus I bet they would be a little shorter if the press didn't keep asking the same questions over and over
Not with White... Good guy or not, he just didn't hit his stride in the Sec Army position. Fred, I'm tellin ya, we've gotten poked over the past few budget rounds and he bought UDLP (formerly FMC) propaganda about Crusader. The concept was fine, the execution was shite.
Who's the next Chief, Army staff?
I haven't a clue. Anyone I would like to see is an analyst for FOX right now LOL!
LOL
His Air Force Background will help the Army
We had firefights, you bet, but our advatage was incredible
The your VERY next sentence is Rummy micromanaged the war how in the world did could any force have an advantage with this "idiot" calling every shot? I've always undersold the effects of leaders on a war, but if he was HALF as bad as you and your buddie Fred baselessly paint him, even though he's not pulling the trigger, logic dictates this 3 week war never ends.
He's a micro manager according to the now infamous Unnamed sources (this hasn't been brought up yet here, but I'd bet your bottom $ this White was most assuredly one of those sources. The Bush Admin is notorious for eliminating leaks.) Your timing betrays an agenda. Just as MoveOn.org is now reduced to opening campaigning against Bush, their primary motivation, you're fixated on Rummy. Why? Hit me with your best shot, but I doubt its important to anyone else.
"Have you installed an '800' number in Baghdad so soldiers or regime people can call in and surrender?"
I understand you were simply quoting the opinions of military busy patting themselves (and each other) on the back(sides?) and congratulating each other.
But if one quotes another as an "authoratative source", it is rational to assume that one agrees with the statements.
If you disagreed, you should have said so.
However, it was still no criticism, just putting forth the premise that it is too soon to tell if this campaign was brilliant or just lucky.
Hitler's germany used the "blitzkreig" as well, and did it much better, IMHO.
With our style of warfare, I wouldn't rule that out. One doesn't have to be that branch to the Sec of a branch...
