So what you're saying, essentially, is that the government ought to be allowed to confiscate our lives and time (or a portion thereof) any time it sees fit to do so.

In other words, slavery hasn't been fully repealed since the days of the founders? Government, but no longer individuals, is entitled to be a slaveholder?

If you want to characterize jury duty as thus, feel free. You may think it makes some grand philosophic point, but in reality it just makes you seem to be a bit daft.
