" .. criticize Jack Kemp for critizing Newt Gingrich for criticizing Colin Powell."
I want to get on an criticize you for criticizing Jack for criticizing Newt for criticizing Colin, but only after criticizing Alan colmes for criticizing Hannity over criticizing the Dixie Chicks for criticizing President Bush.
... seriously, I *saw* the Newt speech and the followup questions. Newt *praised* Colin Powell and made it quite explicit that he had issues with the state dept. organization and bureaucrats and *not* with Colin Powell. IMHO he made his case well. In fact, he made the comment "why do people insist on personalizing things? This is not about personalities." It would be better to hear what he really has to say rather than go in circles re-interpreting (or misinterpreting) his views.
The Bush administration is debating whether it is worth holding further nuclear talks with North Korea, following Pyongyang's vague threats to a U.S. envoy this week that it might test or even export nuclear weapons, senior U.S. officials said Friday. The apparently fruitless two days of talks in Beijing have reopened a feud among President Bush's advisers over the value of negotiating with North Korea.
Hawks, including Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, argue that the outcome of the Beijing talks "show this whole approach is futile," said a senior U.S. official. -- Mercury News
Further evidence of futility in dealing with rogue dictators. Diplomacy needs a new tack. Career Foggy Bottoms need a reality check (as SecArmy found out).
GW isn't gonna mess around. Perhaps he will post a carrier off the coast and put another in a Japanese port then rotate some shore leave while maintaining a continuous presence. Yeah, that's the ticket, gunboat diplomacy.
