I disagree. tdadams' nephew sounds just like the college students in my town and in the one five miles down the road, where my husband works. A quick perusal of college newspapers might convince you that most college students are truly bad writers, ignorant of the most basic rules of grammar and incapable of expressing themselves coherently.
One thing that has always bothered me:
If a word that modifies a verb is an adverb, why is a word that modifies a noun an adjective, instead of an adnoun?

Well, you're absolutely correct--I'm not saying that tdadams' nephew couldn't be accepted into college; he shouldn't be, if colleges had any decent standard for upholding acceptance criteria. Sadly, the only criteria for most schools seems to be, 1) are they breathing? 2) can they pay for their tuition?
