April 25, 2003 -- WASHINGTON - Tariq Aziz, one of the most recognizable and infamous figures from Saddam Hussein's regime, has surrendered to U.S. forces, Pentagon officials said last night.
Aziz, who was Iraq's foreign minister and then deputy prime minister, gave up to U.S. forces in the Baghdad area this week after days of negotiation through an intermediary, military sources said.

He prolly turned himself in because he was so embarrassed about being so low of a card. Had to turn himself in...because they wouldn't come and get him.

These guys were awful quick to tell the peons that they should become martyrs for the cause, but when push comes to shove, they save their own skins as quick as they can.

I read a couple of days ago that the Pentagon says that other than the four aces, the others in the deck of 55 are in no particular order. I wish I could remember the thread where this info appeared. I will guess that Aziz would really be among the top ten.

I suspect you are right. The official line is that he had very little actual power, but it's reasonable to also say that he had very much influence.
