Hillary Attacks Brill on 9/11 Allegations

After ignoring the story for five days, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton was finally forced to respond Thursday night to an allegation that she fabricated records of meetings with families of 9/11 victims - after Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly broke the mainstream media embargo on what some are calling the most serious charge ever lodged against the scandal-scarred former first lady.

In a statement obtained by "The O'Reilly Factor," Sen. Clinton's spokesman Phillipe Reines attacked author-publisher Steven Brill, who alleged on Sunday that Sen. Clinton had lied about her role helping 9/11 families - then had her office generate phony documents to back those lies up.

"Brill's accusations are completely false and an obvious last ditch effort to jump-start anemic book sales," Reines said, referring to his just-released book "After: How America Confronted the September 12 Era."

"It's hard to understand why Mr. Brill would choose to exploit such a horrible tragedy in this manner," the Clinton spokesman added.

On Sunday Brill told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg that Sen. Clinton's office tried to grossly exaggerate her role in helping the families of 9/11 victims.

"They gave me documents and phone calls and things like that which just plain never happened," the author-publisher alleged. He described the Clinton account as "an elaborate story, with an elaborate subtext of memos and phone calls - a long, long story."

But he charged, "None of it turned out to be true."

In New York especially, attempts to capitalize on the plight of 9/11 victims is regarded as a crime lower than child molestation. Ground Zero, for instance, is still considered such hallowed ground that legislation was proposed this week to ban street vendors from the area.

Brill repeated his allegations Thursday afternoon on O'Reilly's nationally syndicated "Radio Factor" show. But when he appeared later on the talk host's top rated TV show, the former law school classmate of Mrs. Clinton sought to downplay the impact of his account.

"I know this is a big story for you," Brill told O'Reilly. "But I don't think it's quite the earth shattering story that you're making it out to be."

O'Reilly took note of the publisher-author's sudden decision to minimize the importance of the damaging report, telling Brill, "I think you're afraid."

Minutes later, the talk host told a guest who was on hand to defend Mrs. Clinton, "Brill is a little scared. I don't care what he says. He was much more forthcoming on the radio."

Both Sen. Clinton's Washington, D.C. and New York offices declined to return NewsMax.com's phone calls on Tuesday seeking comment on Brill's account.

And this is going to be a problem for Mrs. der Schlickmeister?

Hardly, this a sport that Bill Clinton INVENTED.

X42 will bomb an aspirin factory to take the heat off of Hillary.

Oops, I forgot. He's not the Commander-in-Chief anymore.

Oh, wait--I've got it!

He'll tell Tony Blair to do it

Brill was much more 'sure' of himself when he was on the Radio Factor in the afternoon. When he appeared on the TV Factor he seemed very cautious and downright scared. I wonder if somebody got to him.

I think I heard on O'Reilly something about a letter. I could be wrong but it seems as though Hitlery sent him a cease and desist letter.

SEN. Hillary Rodham Clinton might have gotten more than she bargained for when she hired Phillipe Reines as her new press secretary. Reines - who got the job after Hillary’s old p.r. man, Jim Kennedy, was handed over to manage her hubby, Bill - has quite a reputation with his former employer Peter Vallone. In the final struggling days of Vallone’s mayoral bid last year, his disillusioned staffers, hoping to boost morale, held a contest to see who could come up with the most outrageous office skit. Reines ended up winning when he streaked through the offices, leaving a lasting impression on all.

It seems Hillary's staff must be sort of like her husband...

"We're having a heat wave, so it's only reasonable to shed a layer of clothing now and then. But members of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's staff might be taking things too far -- if you believe the New York Post (and after some due diligence, we find no reason not to).

According to yesterday's Page Six column, the New York Democrat's thirty-something economic development director, Kara Hughes, was ejected from the Ritz-Carlton in Manhattan's Battery Park City Friday night after stripping down to her bra in the hotels 14th-floor Rise bar.

Page Six's spy -- who may or may not have been one of former mayor Rudy Giuliani's staffers who we hear were present -- reported that after having some drinks, Hughes decamped to an open-air patio and chatted up a Wall Streetish fellow wearing a dress shirt. When he suddenly removed his shirt, Hughes allegedly unbuttoned her blouse and tossed it to the floor.

An embarrassed friend retrieved the blouse and coaxed Hughes back inside, Page Six reported. "It appeared to be some sort of dare," the witness said. "I'd say about 60 or 70 people saw her do it. She was getting pretty loud, so once she took off her shirt, everyone noticed."

Moments later, an allegedly wobbly Hughes, her blouse restored, returned to the patio, the tabloid said. "She started to take her top off again," the witness recounted. "It was about halfway to three-quarters of the way off when two hotel security guys came up to her and dragged her off."

Hughes didn't return our call yesterday. We phoned Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines about the report, which also noted that Reines had himself stripped down to the altogether last September "to boost the sagging morale" of campaign workers for losing mayoral candidate Peter Vallone. (We're told that Reines was actually wearing two Vallone campaign signs.) But when we sought clarification and enlightenment, he tersely responded: "We don't comment on stories about staffers' personal lives -- including mine.""

BTW, the Clintons reached a new low by having lunch with the PM of Canada and trying to hide it. O'Reilly reported it tonight on his show.

If anything happens bad to the Hildebeast, it makes me happy, but isn't this the same Brill that everyone was castigating when he urinated all over Starr?

Hitlery has two main lawyerly abilities. One find the paper trail and witnesses and eliminate the problems, and second create false paper trails and witnesses. It useally takes a few days ad money to accomplish either and a little bit longer and eve more money for both.

One and the same. He has been forced into the act of investigating and reporting again by the demise of his magazine - the one which he launched by publishing lies about Starr.

I watched it. Same old "Brill the Shill", except for he had a dagger with Hillary's name on it sticking out of his back.

He was doing the lawyer two-step during the whole segment on O'Reilly - you could see that he'd thought better of f**king with the Bitch-Queen.

It took her that long to get everyone's lies, er, stories coordinated.
