I suppose there are some readers of these threads that simply assume that all this panic is media-fed and that people in the severely affected areas are merely reacting to published reports and not what they see with their own eyes.
I truly think that Asia is having far more cases than we will ever know about...the panic is from what is actually happening, being experienced by those taking what we see as extreme measures.
Those who belittle the importance of SARS likely do not know what an epidemic actually is, perhaps do not have a family who has had a bad flu episode affect everyone in the family group one after the other, who haven't perhaps seen people in actual respiratory distress...

Yep. Every little bird loves to hear himself sing, you know. Some folks just go from thread to thread trying to "debunk" what they're reading with their lying eyes. ;-)
As to Beijing, on the one hand I'm glad to see the harsh measures, but on the other hand, IMHO it's all too late. People have been streaming from the city this whole week, carrying the dreaded contagion with them, according to several reports.
Gotta get some shut-eye now. G'nite.

Its on its way to becoming a pandemic.
It wouldn't surprise me at all that it started in a Chinese lab where they were experimenting with genetically altered viruses. Many labs all over the world do such work. China would be much more likely to have an accident because they cut many corners in order to catch up with the West technologically.
