What I would do is let the state implode and than step in at the appropriate time as the savior to bail us out. This way the RATS get whats coming to them and the GOP looks like the good guys.

that is the worst possible outcome. Let the state implode, get all the bad media coverage and financial panic, then step in an pay their bills? And what does Bush tell all the taxpayers in the other states he needs to win about why their money was used to bail out CA?

It is much easier to let the residents of CA pay to bail themselves out, avoid default and the political fallout. Raise taxes on these people!
