I don't know who this Lively guy is, but apparently he's just trying to get people stirred up and buy his conspiracy theory book.
The nazi's were vehemently anti-gay. Between 1933 and 1945 100,000 men were arrested for homosexuality under Paragraph 175, the sodomy provision of the German penal code dating back to 1871. Some were imprisoned, others were sent to concentration camps.

I think you need to do some more research, kiddo.

This is incorrect. Ernst Rhoem, Rudolph Hess, and many other early and prominent nazi's were gay. Rhoem was a flamer. There was considerable speculation that hitler was gay, or at least had taken male lovers. His OSS profile states that Hitler called Forrester "Bubi", a term homosexuals use for their lover.

The nazi's were vehemently anti-gay...(snip)...
Some were imprisoned, others were sent to concentration camps.
True...but a fuller "rest of the story" shows that Hitler and the Nazi leaders
were what I'd call "pragmatic".
They railed against identifiable groups to motivate the masses to do their bidding...
and at the same time would tolerate some of those folks in their midst.
I can't remember the name of the book, but a graduate student recently found that
there were more than a few men of Jewish ancestry that managed to live out the
war as German soldiers, even if their background was known to officers.
And Hitler/Nazis publically cut deals with clergy-men who were fellow travelers,
while sending many priests and protesting theologians (e.g., Bonhoeffer) to their deaths.
Hitler and the Nazis...they have provided endless grist for the mill all my life
and will long after I've breathed my last!
