Have you EVER WORKED with the Turkish Military?
Have you ever met a Turkish special forces unit?
I know the answer is no, so shut the hell up Elinil, your racism is showing again.
The Turkish Special Forces are some of the meanest in the world, they should be, WE train them.
Why did they give up so easily? Because the mission was compromised and they were told NOT to shoot at our forces if caught.
Otherwise we could have had a REAL mess on our hands, our 4th ID may be good, but to put them up against Turkish SF would NOT have been pretty.
Turkey will now get a slap on the wrist, although I think we need to be a bit harsher then that.
They need to stay out of this, otherwise face STRICT consequences. They had their chance for a voice in this, and they BLEW it.

I agree with everything you said in this post. I have great respect for the ferocity of Turkish Special Forces. I will also say that Turkey has been responsible for some horrendous acts of genocide against the Greeks and Armenians - elini1 has most likely experienced this firsthand as has my husband and his family. The perspective is colored by this experience.
I had a professor in college who'd fought in the Korean War. He said that the Greeks and Turks were ferocious against the Koreans in the daytime -- then fought each other under the cover of darkness.
This failed mission is also flat out wrong from our point of view and we shouldn't let it go by unpunished. It will be interesting to see what happens going forward.
