Then number of missing that the Greek Cyriots are claiming is a little over 1800. However most of those losses are actually Greeks killed by fascist Greeks during the coup. There are loads of eye-witness testimonies about large numbers of Greek Cypriots being killed by the mainland Greek controlled National Guard and Greek Special Forces. All those losses were also conveniently blamed on the Turkish invasion.

Excuse me -- I stand corrected. Thousands killed during the military action, 1800 (I've seen about 1650 or so in other reports) POW's missing, and 200,000 refugees. Not tens of thousands missing -- still, not very positive, eh?
