I wish the GOP was half as good at the "talking points" game as the democrats. They have scored allot of points simply by virtue of their cohesion and consistancy.

Yes, but, alas, I think they're "wearing it out"! They keep going to the "well" with weaker and weaker issues. This Santorum flap is a real stretch. That's why I hope our guys hang tough right here and now! Then {next step} let's go on offense!

I would agree with that.
Like you say though, it's more of a statement about their issues than their tactics.
The issues they choose (like the anti-war stance) alienate Americans at large.
It's like polishing a turd. Best tactics in the world aren't going to merit them much with 'issues' like that.
