The immediate Bush Team - no.
The average voter - almost. A deep sleep will set in shortly. People want to forget about the war, forget about 9/11, and go back to "life as usual."
That will be the DNC's best hope for 2004 - "Life as Usual."
Pie in the sky, free medicine, free college, wide-open immigration, pandering minorities will be among the usual Democratic come-on mass-hypnotic lies.
They have worked for the past hundred years or so - habits are a hard thing to break.
I don't think so.
The average American experienced a fundamental change on 9/11. Most are no longer complacent about our personal security here at home, and that's not going to fade away because we won the war in Iraq quickly.
I seriously don't think any 'pie in the sky' tripe coming out of Democrats is going to trump the general view that Republicans are far stronger with regard to national security, and that this President is seen as particularly strong in this area.
That doesn't mean that any of us should be complacent about the election. I'm going to work as I've never worked before to make sure George W. Bush is re-elected......and, IMO, every conscientious conservative in this country should do the same. I'm just not going to worry about the 'what if's' that I seriously don't believe will happen.
