CA: GOP gets a partial offer on budget

Assembly Democrats dangled a budget deal to skeptical Republicans on Wednesday, offering to support $2.5 billion in cuts to health programs for the poor and other state services in exchange for GOP backing for a plan to borrow pension funds to help fill the state's budget hole.

This story sounds like a media plant. "The Republicans agreed to cuts in medical funding for the poor in exchange for the Dems being allowed to borrow against pensions." Then buried in the story is a comment that the Republicans had not been contacted or commented on it.

Let's see - - $34.6 billion minus $2.5 billion in cuts equals..... only $32.1 billion to go!
