While Shreveport Police Chief Jim Roberts responded to public outrage over a recent officer-involved deadly shooting by re-releasing still photos of the event, black leaders continue to press forward with plans of an economic boycott of Shreveport.
Saying public sentiment following the March 15 shooting of Marquise Hudspeth, 25, has been dogged by misinformation, Roberts on Wednesday held a news conference during which he was flanked by two enlarged photos which he said allow "everyone an opportunity to see what the officers were seeing the night of the shooting."

Maybe the black male could've prevented this situation if he would've acted differently.
Would the "black leaders" have been as outraged if the chase ended quietly with an arrest after the scumbag ran over a couple white kids?

This is a tragic situation which will be exploited for all its worth. Hightower will probably end up giving them whatever they want, because otherwise they will never shut up.
Too bad for they guy, and I feel real bad for his family, but all he had to do was pull over and OBEY THE FREAKING LAW.
My main complaint about the casinos is that they bring all those darn Texans over here. It's hard to get a seat in a restaurant anymore.

Police deal with scumbags for a living. They still have to do their job within the law.
Furthermore, high speed chases are a bad idea. Unless he has no fixed address, arrest him when he isn't running. If he was as bad a scumbag as you think, then he probably had default warrants on him and the cops should have arrested him long before this.

Every city of 200,000 + on the planet has some rough areas. Shreveport is better than most.
I have been in the Lakeside, Queensborough, Hearne Ave, and Jewella neighborhoods after dark many times and not never had any problems. None.
agreed. If more people who lead police on them get shot, perhaps other people will think twice before trying to evade the cops.

Sure is. I almost deigned to tell him that we have several black families in this neighborhood, including some excellent neighbors who just moved in next door.
I think he just has a problem with anyone who isn't white. But, I could be wrong.
High speed chases may be a bad idea, but running from the cops shows complete contempt for the law and the community. The fact that he's dead means others won't be subject to his wrecklessness.
In all my years, I've been pulled over about 5-6 times and not once did I consider fleeing. It's no strange coincidence that I've never been shot by the police either.
By the way, how many times has a cop been shot by someone who he thought only had a cell phone? Scumbag put himself in the situation where his actions were felt to be other than honorable. Who the hell leads police on a high speed chase then exits their vehicle with a cell phone? Who's he calling? Johnny Corcoran? Or was he "martyring" himself.

We live in a racially mixed suburban area. If I had to guess the ratio, it is maybe 60-40 white. It was nearly all white before some subsidized apartments were built a few blocks away. The population of the apartments is at least 90% black, and many of those who have left the apartments and got good jobs have chosen to stay close by, buying nice homes in this neighborhood.
Some of the older white people who have lived here since the 1960s grumble about the influx of black folks, but there is no "white flight" here.
