I don't see where the victims of Hussein's dictatorship are lacking in morality, certainly not of the imported variety. The victims of a monster like Saddam are often complicit in their own destruction. He didn't himself pull many triggers (although he did pull a few). His orders were carried out by other people, who were recruited from among the populace at large.
Soldiers obey because they are afraid not to. Low level policemen, the same. Doctors cutting off ears, the same. A few doctors refused to obey and died. The rest obeyed and became Saddam's accomplices.
Everyone joined the Baath party; those few hardy souls who refused went into exile or died; the rest are complicit. A monster such as Saddam must overcome the morality that is built into the culture; if the level of morality is sufficiently well developed, guys like Saddam (and Hitler, and Stalin, and Mao) get smothered in their cribs, or wind up as inmates at a mental hospital, or victims of a coup d'etat at the hands of some general with a slightly better developed sense of good and evil.

They can keep all Christian missionaries out of Iraq if we can keep all Muslims out of the USA, including the hundreds of Wahabbi mosques Saudi Arabia has built here!

She needs a sandwich and a new hair style. Agree about the sandwich. Annie needs more meat on her.
But as to a new hair style... I like the Rapunzel-style. :)

Why, then, were these same news organizations CNN and the Times in particular so insistent that the United States take no action to remove Hussein from power, knowing what they now admit they knew? Liberals learned to live with Iraqi citizens being fed into plastic shredders, summary executions, maimings and unanesthetized ear-loppings. Only now have they found something truly fiendish going on in Iraq: Christian missionaries are proselytizing! I saw something on the news tonight where some young girl had written in claiming US was an imperialist country set on world domination. Then a channel away on CNN of all places, they had a true story about Iraq. Three young men were on, in their late twenties. They had refused to join Hussein's army when he wanted to attack Kuwait. They were all 18 back then, their ears were hacked off with a machete, they were thrown into prison and tortured and beaten. Their ID papers were colored red so they were unemployable and no woman would marry them.
Then on another channel they were talking about Uday. He made school principles give him lists of little girls, students he could rape, and he did rape them. Girls and women who are raped cannot marry and are forced into a life of prostitution. Makes no sense, it is the man doing the crime, but they are in the 12th century over there. They interviewed an airhead from some international human rights group and she said they are only concerned with USA and UK now, on human rights issues in Iraq. I guess what the Husseins did to innocent people, thousands of them, was OK??????

"Someday, liberals will denounce democracy, citing the atrocities of Red China as proof of what such a monstrous system of government can do."I keep thinking that, but they know now how bad communism/socialism/fascism is, and they keep trying to cram it down our throats. They know how evil it is and they still organize anti-American, pro-communism protests all the time.

Historically, self-governance that is democratic, necessarily embraces the concept of pluralism (such as religous tolerance). Which is of course a far cry from the Marxist hypocritical version of diversity palmed off today for the cynical purposes of destroying true self-government.

Liberals don't mind pompously asserting that the terrorists are not practicing "true Islam" and demanding conversion to a form of Islam closer to their own "morality" (as per Pagden).

Yes she is. She's sharp. Makes me feel dull and, actually, I like that. I mean, she catches things I either did miss, or would have missed (like how "imperialistic" it is to say, "No no no, you're doing Islam all wrong, do it this way," and then how inconsistent to say, "Christins, stay out; their religion is none of your business!"
I wonder what her own spiritual status really is?
