No, not ALL people men nor women cheat on their spouses. That is an individual thing one chooses to do. To base whether or not one should or should not get married on sordid stories like these is very sad.

How about looking up to couples who have been married for years and celebrate their silver and golden wedding anniversaries who still love and respect each other and can enjoy the their golden years with fond and loving memories of their past? Why concentrate on the losers who cheat? They are not examples to follow.

You choose to marry, love and respect your spouse and you expect the same in return. To do otherwise is also a choice made by INDIVIDUALS... It is NOT the norm of those who respect the sacred sacrament of marriage!!!

To say such couples are few and far between is an understatement. Like it or not most people act as that woman and that general do. I need not comment on the behaviors of women my age.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of boinking between married enlisted females and male officers. It is wrong and it is a crime.

A two-star general banging an E-6 is news worthy locally--the fact that Bill Richardson is involved makes it interesting nationally...

Maybe you're attracted to the wrong type of woman. There are plenty of places to find them besides bars and strip joints.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!

I just heard through the grapevine that there are incriminating and highly intimate audio tapes of phone conversations involving the General and the Sergeant!!!!

If this guy was president it would be a private matter.

not that its any of your business but I don't frequent either of those establishments. Trust me, my generalization is quite apt and thus also is my position against marriage in this day and age.

Actuallly, they are not "few and far between." Look around you. You'll find couples who have been married for 10,20,25,50 and even more years everywhere. While it is true that 50% of marriages end in divorce, that means that 50% do not.

Gov Richardson apparently considers this a private matter as well, he allowed him to resign without an investigation...

Really? Perhaps it's the women you know who behave that way. Perhaps you should look around a bit more. Try your local churches if you want to find virtuous women.

ur positing that just because a couple has been together for x # of years they're "happy.' I've come across a number of loveless marriages which stay put due to making sure the kids have a stale household. While laudable I wouldn't wish that sort of situation on my worst enemy.

I don't trust you.

Your position against marriage requires you either to live like a monk, or to seek out hosebags of the sort you seem to despise. Either way, it pretty much rules out your being on the lookout for marriageable women.

Of course, if your "position on marriage" is a result of your inability to find a faithful woman -- then perhaps the problem is with you.

Here in the real world, it's not at all difficult to meet women who will remain faithful, and who are worth marrying. When you've grown up some, you'll figure that out.

I'm not interested in a relationship nor was that related in any way to my posts. My point relates back to the stupidity of getting married in this society.

Your personal experience is no indication of the general run of things. It sounds to me that you have been embittered somehow, perhaps by a relationship.

I think you'll find that many people here are in long-term, happy marriages. Perhaps you should step back and have a listen to what they're telling you.

I note in your page that you are planning to join the Marines. That's a good thing. Give that some time. When you are a few years older, your opinion may well change. Life's like that.

Perhaps marriage is not for you. That does not mean that is not for everyone. It is your choice, of course, but most people find that marriage to a partner who is compatible with them is a rewarding experience, and one that enriches their lives.

Of course, your experience may vary from that. But, as you are young, I counsel waiting a few years...you may find that your opinion changes.

Admittedly using ancedotal evidence isn't helpful on the face of things. However after college and work in the private sector accompanied by some W. Bennett works, they tend to justify such a view.

I don't know where you come up with your stats, but I'd be interested to see some proof of all that boinking going on between married enlisted females and male officers. Also, there is no way that that should be a crime. BTW, an AF SSgt is an E-5, not an E-6.

You will see whatever you want to see, I'm afraid. The point is that there are fine people all around you, people who have the potential to be a life-partner for you. Your prejudice against relationships and marriage is misplaced. I do not know who W. Bennett is, or what he/she writes, but if the bottom line of that writing is that all women and mean cheat on their spouses, or that all women are sluts, then he/she is quite wrong.

You will find whatever you are looking for in people. If you assume that all are evil, you will certainly find evil people. If you assume that many are good, you will encounter those. It's who you are and how you approach relationships that dictates what you find.

I encourage you to read more positive writings and to involve yourself with activities that will put you into contact with the type of woman you don't believe exists. Again, try your local churches.
