I don't understand what the big deal is..

If two men or two women want to "marry", let them.

Who does it hurt? It's not up to us to appease those religious zealots who would feel perfectly at home with the Taliban over a civil issue.

Agreed, Shroom. But I also think that the issue of due process is critical when looking at this issue. You can call it marriage, civil union, or a popsicle - just so long as equal access to benefits is extended to any adult couple that is willing to enter into a contract for a monogamous relationship.

"Don't understand the big deal" and Who does it hurt?

Number one, as a taxpayer it hurts my 'pocketbook'..The instances of HIV plus all the colon conditions for which they must seek medical help is overtaxing our medical insurance programs. Haven't you noticed the yearly increases on your insurance coverages, or are you one who pleads poverty and needs the assistance of those who readily pay for insurance but never make claims..Maybe, it is the clean living of the many that allows them to critisize deviant behaviour....To go on, it really affects a family, parent's whooo, yes! lead a Clean life are truthfully devastated. Seems the world has been turned inside out. What was once normal (Young man meeting young woman with result of healthy marriage and children) is now portrayed as abnormal. Now, Normal is trying to force people to accept same sex unions, with the result that eventually, since they cannot produce offspring, will recruit your child into their lifestyle. Untill I can see this happening (man+man=???) all I can surmise is that it is all about self-gratification, no if's and's or butt's.....Excuse the pun!
