With all of this sleaze circulating, we're wondering who is helping to get it into print? The Globe, after all, is owned by the Democratic Party's paper of record, the New York Times. As the Romans asked, "Cui bono?" or "Who benefits?"

Well, let's see. NYT is not shilling for Dean or Edwards, so they are not the intended beneficiaries of the sleaze revelations. Everyone else has either dropped out or is hopelessly fringe.

Cui bono? Only the Clintons. But how? By making sure there's not an incumbent dem in the whitehouse in 2008? That seems quite a stretch. To put the party nomination in total disarray, requiring a selfless HRC to step forward and take the nomination "for the good of the party"? Makes sense to me!

Could be simple. 2008 or not. A Dem in the White House takes power away from the Clitons. With GW, they get at least another four years to solidify their bases and continue to keep the past in the past.
