There are historians who suggest that the fall of the Roman Empire was hastened by its many efforts to subdue the Jews of Israel

Name one. When someone says something this silly, it is impossible to take anything else he has to say seriously.

exactly. I am given to understand that it was the succession wars which destroyed the legions, which in turn led to a change in strategic posture from pre-emptive offense and mobile legions to "defense in depth" and static garrisons, which in turn led to the de-Romanization of both the legions and the provinces, which led to the ruin of the culture and economies therein, which in turn led to the import of laeti, and resulted in the eventual fall of the Western Empire.
I have not once ever heard any credible classical historian or antiquarian claim that the campaigns in Judea contributed in any measurable way to the fall of the Empire. Moreover, one would have expected such a notional effect to cripple the Eastern Empire more than that of the West, which is not borne out by history to even the slightest degree.
