some of those "human shields" who went to Iraq were really CIA agents sent to deal with Iraqi generalsthis is too funny! - those pompous, American-hating Human Shields ended up helping the American war effort!

This may or may not be true. Lebanese newspapers are controlled by Syria, which presumably has its own reasons for printing these stories or allowing them to be printed.
Conversely, the CIA has evident motives for wanting to discredit the human shields so they will not be welcomed by our enemies in future wars.

a credible account in a Lebanese newspaper it says was based on information confided by top U.S. sources,
Some how I don't find that fact boosting my confidence.

some of those "human shields" who went to Iraq were really CIA agents LOL!!! I take back my 'wanker' remarks about all of the Human Shields. It only applies to the real ones.

The CIA : Right ! Uh-huh . Yep.
The author conveniently left out the "negligible" efforts of: Special Forces ( who recruited and trained the Kurds ), the US Air Force ,Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard-and the thousands of National Guard members who sacrificed ( and are still sacrificing )to help keep the USA a little safer.

One mistake in the article: Apache helicopters don't work for ferrying anyone - unless they were somehow attached to the weapons wings. CH-53s would have been used with Apache escorts.

All your human shields are belong to us!

The human shields were useful idiots for both Saddam and for the CIA.
They just can't win.
LOLOL...

U.S. military leaders realized they were facing a force with high military preparedness, one that was well trained and capable of inflicting tremendous casualties on American forces attempting to enter Baghdad. Kinda destroys credibility. Their forces really stunk they were thire and fourth rate. They realized it was we who deserved fear. They were more than willing to quit rather than fight us.

According to a credible account in a Lebanese newspaper it says was based on information confided by top U.S. sources[....] I stopped right there.
This is nothing but another attempt to explain away the Iraqi Army's humilitating defeat as the result of a "betrayal". The Arab world is having a very difficult time accepting the outcome of this war, especially the minimal Iraqi resistance and their rapid defeat.
When they realized that the Arab news reports up until that point were little more than propaganda, they have been searching for an explanation that preserves some measure of Arab "honor". They cannot admit they were defeated by a superior force.

I find it interesting that the title "Secret War" is the same title used by Newsweek; but I don't know if it's the same story.
