But when she told Mike about the babies - which includes a set of identical twins - he thought she was joking.

He said yesterday: "I thought she was winding me up."

No, that was a few months ago.

I don't know how they decide which two to abort. But I do know that doctors feel they have to tell people that this is an option for legal reasons, even if the doctor does not do this in his own practice. Otherwise the patient can come back later, after she has problems, and sue the doctor. The doctor has to protect himself by telling the mother that it is an option and recording that she chose to continue the pregnancy.

Hey look, another Brit with bad teeth. I love it when sterotypes prove true.

"But I do know that doctors feel they have to tell people that this is an option for legal reasons, even if the doctor does not do this in his own practice."

When my niece and her hubby found out she was pregnant with triplets, they were so happy. The doctor told them of this option. Neither her or her husband would consider such an option, they went to another doctor. The triplets are healthy and happy, will be 2 this summer.

"My congratulations to the mum. She has her work cut out."

Yes, the taxpayers also have 4 new burdens to raise once the 23 yr old "sperm donor" leaves.

Stacey said her mum Lorraine, 36, who was with her, was even more stunned. She added: "Mum was hysterical. She was jumping up and down shouting."

Hopefully in ANGER that her daughter was that stupid.

I can't understand how you could 'thin' children. I can 'thin' tomato plants, but the thought of 'thinning' kids makes me ill. Even *if* you were a pro-choice person and didn't think you were 'killing' anything, how would you know you didn't 'thin' the Einstein and leave the Dahmer?

This is the third Brit in about a month that I have read about who has been gobsmacked. They need to make some gobsmacking control laws and get this stuff in hand.

Just a simple question: why is an 18yo on fertility treatments?

Me too. This woman is young and I hope the best for her. She has been blessed 4 times.

My question was rhetorical. Some doctors may choose to offer this option to cover their liability, but there are also plenty of doctors who wouldn't. Most catholic hospitals I've know wouldn't allow it. This issue shouldn't even come up unless the mother's life is threatened, and having quads isn't necessarily life threatening.

Yup. She conceieved all four w/o fertility treatments. God wanted her to have 4 for a reason. I hope she has a healthy pregnancy and 4 healthy babies! :)
