Isn't the Prius a hybrid car? Using fuel cells and getting above 50 mph?

No fuel cells, 50 mph yes, 50 mpg even better.

Not a bad car, if you think paying an extra $5000 to save 500 gallons of gas is a good deal, and don't mind the risk of buying a $4500 battery someday.

The Prius is a hybrid (gas/electric) vehicle. It uses gasoline but the electric system increases efficiency by recovering momentum lost during deceleration. The net yield is about a 20% increase in fuel economy.
