Two Turkish F-16 jets yesterday harassed a US C-130 transport aircraft flying some 30 miles southeast of Rhodes, Greek military officials said yesterday. The jets were chased off by Greek aircraft, the same officials said, adding that the US pilot told control tower staff the Turkish jets had come very close to his aircraft.

Move our Saudi base to Northern Iraq. That will intimidate Syria, encourage the Kurds as we create Kurdistan, and suggest to the Turks (ptui!) that they best keep their damned hands in their own friggin' pockets.

We need a 'Disable any US made equipment that we sold to somebody else that is within 1000 meters of this position' device.

This from a Greek news paper that has an english page. Believing the Greeks or Turks about each other is like believing the pakistanis and Indiaans about each other.
This is fiction unless confirmed elsewhere.

And if we sit on it so as not to make the
State Department confront Turkey, then
it never happened at all, did it?

Well, it may or may not be true. Last year I wouldn't have believed it. Now it has a certain plausibility, I'm sorry to say.

The hardest part about this tale to swallow is the idea that the Greek Air Force chased the Turks away, especially away from a US plane. The Greeks despise us too much to do that.

And if we sit on it so as not to make the State Department confront Turkey, then it never happened at all, did it?In fact it probably never did happen.
Every Navy and AF pilot on guard would have heard this live on the radio, the same as the Greek Pilots supposedly did.
It would have shown up on every Aegis Cruiser in the Eastern med.
One of the carriers would have scambled aircraft.
Word would have leaked into the US press.
We have reporters crawling all over our armed forces in the Middle East.
No way it could be kept quiet.

The Saudis are some of the most ungrateful people on earth.
11 years ago they were begging for help like little girls, now they tell us off. The nerve of them...

You're very far away from reality. The Greeks do not despise Americans. It's the current socialist government in Greece that has adopted anti-American policies.
