They can be a problem after the fighting is over, even for friendlies.
I saw someone lose half a foot and injur the other from one of those things.

IIRC, from my Field Artillery days, the M42 is a sub-munition dispensed from 155mm howitzer ordinance. Somewhat common.

According to Bob Arnot, who likes to visit hospitals and has some left-leanings, the civilians are being harmed mostly by Iraqi ordinance. The other day he said that the US DID NOT drop cluster bombs anywhere near civilians.

I'm tired of hearing about American soldiers getting hurt 4 at a time. Why are these guys grouped up close enough to get 4 with one bomblet? or is the bomblet good enough to be dangerous at 15 meters?
